CLUTCH IS DEVICE ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE POWER FOWER ENGINE TO GEAR BOX or TRANSMISSION. THE CLUTCH IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE CLUTCH IN ENGAGED THE POWER FLOWS FROM THE ENGINE TO THE REAR WHEELS THROUGH THE GEAR BOX or TRANSMISSION. THE CLUTCH WORKS ON THE PRINCIPLE OF FRICTION.
TYPES OF CLUTCHES
1.FRICTION CLUTCH
a) SINGLE PLATE CLUTCH b) MULTIPLATE CLUTCH c) CONE CLUTCH
2. CENTRIFUGAL TYPE CLUTCH
3.HYDRAULIC CLUTCH
4.ELECTRO-MAGNETIC CLUTCH
5.VACCUUM CLUTCH
SINGLE PLATE CLUTCH: THE SINGLE PLATE CONSITS OF ONLY ONE CLUCH PLATE IT MOUNTED ON SPLINES OF CLUTCH SHAFT. WHEN THE SINGLE PLATE IS ENGAGED THE CLUTCH PLATE IS GRIPPED BETWEEN THE FLY WHEEL AND PRESSURE PLATE.
MULTIPLATE CLUTCH: MULTIPLATE CLUTCH CONSITS OF MORE THAN ONE CLUTCH PLATE or IT CONSITS OF NUMBER OF CLUTCH PLATES. IN MULTIPLATE CLUTCH FRICTION SURFACE INCREASE BECAUSE OF CLUTCH PLATES INCREASED.
